New York man to spend 4 years plus in prison for lottery scam against baby boomers

A New York man has been sentenced to 51 months in prison and ordered to pay $733,999 for his part in a bogus lottery scheme that targeted the elderly.

According to prosecutors, Merelan from 2012 through 2015 worked in conjunction with several Jamaican co-conspirators to target victims with a fraudulent lottery scheme.
